Applebees

A Taste of Heaven
The denizens of the staid town of North Bergen in New Jersey have something to cheer about when it pertains to victuals in restaurants. The latest entrant on the restaurant scene in North Bergen is the popular family eating joint videlicet Applebee’s. The insipid comestible of the run-of-the-mill restaurants in North Bergen is destined to receiving a rude awakening from the trendy Applebee’s. The writing is clearly on the wall. Unless these eateries respond to this palpable threat with alacrity and innovativeness they will have to face the music. Applebee’s is inevitably going to spice up the competition and food in this town with its much vaunted menu and it is time the old food establishments wake up from their gastronomical slumber and brace themselves for the challenge or else bite the dust. It is time for residents of this town to eat more palatable restaurant food.
The recently opened Applebee’s restaurant in North Bergen is situated on the crossing of 88th Street and Tonnelle Avenue. It is nestled in a shopping mall flanked by ostentatious stores selling both gewgaws as well as fancy items. The restaurant seems to have become a magnet for Epicureans. Hordes of people flock to Applebee’s. The parking spaces for the eatery are always chockablock full. It has occupied the vacant spot left behind by a bankrupt Old Navy store. It seems to have taken the town by a storm.
It is a sensation. It has majestically announced its arrival on the restaurant scene in North Bergen and will certainly give the other restaurants a run for their money. It is open all seven days of the week, and well into the late night hours on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant has been tastefully decorated. The place is capacious and amply beautified with expensive furniture. The furniture is made of classy and elegant wood like teak. With Picassos on the wall and waiters at one’s beck and call the place has a regal touch. There is a stylish bar offering a fantastic variety of hard drinks. It provides an ideal setting for night owls. The marquee restaurant has raised the bar for bistros and other restaurants in this town which has always lived and still lives in the shadow of the Big Apple.
Applebee’s is always teeming with people. The folks who gravitate to this chic family restaurant are a fusion of people from different echelons of society. There are people from the middle classes as well as from the upper crust of society and also the nouveau riche. There are people from an entire behavioural spectrum ranging from the sophisticated and polished to the more boisterous and rambunctious. However, they all blend very well. The mood and ambience of the place is upbeat. It is a lively place with a wonderful ambience.
Unlike the pedestrian taste in music betrayed by other neighbouring restaurants, Applebee’s has been a welcome relief. The music is eclectic but still patrician. Western classical music of the finest composers is sometimes punctuated by timeless romantic ballads of the yesteryears namely the golden oldies of the 50s, 60s and 70s. The customers are treated to the rich, sweet, smooth and mellifluous voices of legendary singers like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Perry Como. Classic Rock and Disco also add variety and excitement to the ambience.
Applebee’s is well staffed. The staff at Applebee’s is smartly attired. They are friendly and courteous. They are jovial but genteel. The warm and caring staff attends to the needs of the customers. They are attentive and provide efficient service. The staff is extremely hospitable and always provide brisk service. They assist customers in selecting the food suited to their liking. Finally before they bid adieu to customers they ask their guests to once again come back to Applebee’s and indulge in Epicurean delicacies.
The entry of Applebee’s to the hospitality industry in North Bergen is bound to have implications on the wilting economy of North Bergen. As an economics graduate I would like to venture in economic forecasting in North Bergen. I believe this business venture will greatly lift North Bergen’s depressed and shrinking economy. First I think the other restaurants will pull up their socks. Applebee’s will infuse a healthy new competition and the resultant side-effect would be that restaurants will upgrade the quality of food as well as service in the restaurants. Another upshot will mean lower prices for customers and consequently a consumer surplus. Secondly there will be a decrease in the unemployment rate in North Bergen. A rise in the employment rate will create a multiplier effect and this will foster the demand for goods and services in the economy and will revive the confidence and buoyancy of the economy of North Bergen. This will in time have a beneficial spillover on the nearby areas of North Bergen and its benefits will ultimately trickle down to the larger economy. I can assure you I am not being Panglossian.
The food in this restaurant is superlative. The restaurant is a paradise for bons vivants. There are exotic beverages and cocktails. Amongst some of the sinful beverages to choose from are beers, margaritas and sangrias, classic cocktails, specialty drinks, martinis, wines, specialty non-alcoholic drinks, and indulgent drinks. Amongst the margaritas the Pomegranate Margarita stands out. There are some Bohemian cocktails like Bahama Mama which leave a bitter aftertaste in the mouth. The mango martini can leave you inebriated. Last but not the least there are the garden variety soft drinks for the faint hearted.
There are some delightful appetizers and delicious entrees. I would highly recommend the dynamite shrimp in the hors d’oeuvre category. When it comes to entrees my hot favourite is the Garlic Herb Chicken. It is simply delectable. It will also be a good idea not to chicken out on the zesty Bourbon Street Steak. In an ostentatiously American gourmet restaurant the sea food is a pleasant surprise. The Cajun Lime Tilapia is scrumptious. The Orange Chicken Bowl will simply bowl food connoisseurs over. The Blackened Tilapia Sandwich is very appetizing.
Besides voracious eaters of meat and fish, salad lovers, and dipsomaniacs, Applebee’s is also a utopian reality for those with a sweet tooth. There are mouth-watering desserts like Triple Chocolate Meltdown and Maple Butter Blondie. The warm desserts simply melt into your mouth. The decadent desserts will make you lick your lips. The time has come for you to go on a spending splurge manifested in an eclectic and sumptuous meal at Applebee’s. The time is ripe for corpulent and puny men alike to indulge in Lucullan feasts. Small eaters and gluttons alike in North Bergen should dine at Applebee’s. If ever there was food meant for the Gods, Applebee’s certainly fills the bill.
